Women's First Team Assistant Coach
Assistant Coach Flower Edington brings a deep passion for the game and a wealth of experience to the Edgewater Women’s Team as they enter their fourth season. A former player of the team with an impressive list of experience with FC United, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Chicago City SC, Edington has been closely tied to the Edgewater squad since its inception. This season, she is eager to build upon the strong foundation of family and competition that has made the club such a special community.
Edington’s coaching philosophy centers on tactical adaptability and team unity, emphasizing a structured yet dynamic style of play. Inspired by versatile players like Crystal Dunn and Julie Ertz of the USA Women's National Team, she prioritizes developing well-rounded athletes who can anticipate the game and thrive in multiple positions no matter the circumstance. Her approach emphasizes adaptivity in all spaces on the field, being able to react to any situation with the immediate next right move. With coaching experience at various levels, including the Chicago Fire Youth Soccer Club and Special Olympics Unified Team, Edington is deeply committed to player development and elevating the team’s competitive edge.
As the team prepares for the season ahead, Edington has set ambitious goals: competing for the top spot in the conference, making playoffs, and establishing Edgewater Castle FC as a powerhouse in the league. Her excitement lies not only in the tactical battles on the pitch, but also in the opportunity to mentor players and contribute to a culture that uplifts women in sports. Backed by an experienced coaching staff and a talented squad, Edington is honored to continue shaping Edgewater’s identity—one built on excellence, resilience, and an unwavering love for the game.
